What to expect when referring yourself

336-758-CARE (2273) is a service that ensures someone will always be available (i.e., 24/7 M-F, weekends and university holidays) to provide caring and thoughtful consultation services for Wake Forest students in need of mental health assistance. 


Step 1: Submit a Referral

You can either call 336-758-CARE (2273) or complete a referral form online. You will be asked to provide identifying information about yourself so that a CARE coordinator can contact you.

Step 2: Speak with our CARE coordinator*

Our CARE coordinator will answer the phone and ask for your name, WFU email address, phone number, and WFU student ID number. *After hours, you will be connected to our intake service and routed to our CARE coordinator for follow-up.

You will be asked to explain your situation, concern, or circumstance that has led you to connect with 336-758-CARE (2273). Please feel free to share as much information as you see fit. Every bit of information helps the CARE team better connect with you. You may be asked additional questions about your concerns.

Step 3: Connect with a CARE Case Manager

Our CARE coordinator will connect you with a CARE Case Manager who will listen to your concern and offer ongoing support or connect you with helping resources on campus.
